The Sherman Venture Co-op provides Northeastern University founders the opportunity to develop their own venture over the course of a six-month period. The best part?  You’re paid while you do so.  The ideal co-op is a Northeastern University undergrad or graduate student who has identified a concept or technology to address a specific and well-characterized market need.

Success of the venture concept is not the goal of this co-op. Rather, the development of the entrepreneur (i.e. experiencing the good, bad and ugly of entrepreneurship) is our focus. The venture concept is merely a tool for that development. Special emphasis is placed on the professional development and mental/emotional health of the those we support.

The Ketchup Industry is dominated by just a few big brand names, but not anymore. Northeastern student, Jack Burns, is on a quest to growing his ketchup brand, Ketchup Please, by providing people with a clean, healthy, and tasty condiment. Ketchup Please is the worlds only organic, 0 added sugar, sweetened ketchup. Throughout his time within Northeastern’s Venture Co-op program, Jack has grown and scaled his business from roughly 200 stores to over 400 and this is just the beginning.

“Being surrounded by that community of change-makers, innovators, and truly empowering people is what made me brave enough to venture into a space that was so unknown. The Sherman Center is where I gained that confidence.”

- Rachel Domb, founder of Rooted Living, an eco-friendly, plant-based snack company with 100% compostable packaging.

“The Sherman Center played one of the bigger roles in Mount. We started as a REV venture through the Sherman Center, which gave me further mentorship and gap funding”

“The Sherman Center at Northeastern funded my and another student’s co-op so we could work full time on BusRight. Having a university that will support you in diving in head-first and being able to hire other co-ops and Northeastern alumni has been absolutely transformative.”
