Happy Friday huskies! This week, we feature the venture mentoring network along with one new spring co-op and updates about Forge and Generate showcases!
✨ Venture Mentoring Network ✨
The VMN is a network that spans all of Northeastern which connects the university's aspiring entrepreneurs with skilled mentors. Nearly 200 active volunteer advisers from a variety of industries make up this pool; they assist startups with their unique business issues and mentoring requirements. When it comes to areas like research and development, scaling a business, and reviewing pitch decks, VMN mentors have important knowledge and are eager to share it! Click below to get involved either as a mentor or a mentee!

Extra Credit with Professor Mark Sivak! 📝

Here I share something design or tech related from the week for those looking for just a little extra credit.

Something that has become a post-Thanksgiving tradition of mine is listening to the Science Friday podcast where every Black Friday they have coverage of a very unique award ceremony, the Ig Nobel Prizes. The Ig Nobel prizes are for silly explanations of science papers. The prizes are presented by actual Nobel winners and there is usually a bunch of other nerdy, silly antics during the ceremony like a Mini-Opera about Know-it-alls and lectures that are explanations of a science experiment in 24 seconds and then 7 words. My favorite prize this year was the engineering prize for this paper. The paper itself is in Japanese but the experiment was looking at the best way for a hand to grip a knob. The researchers were able to see how many fingers were used, the grip type and more, very cool.
Thoughts and feedback about the extra credit this week or want to submit one for next week? Email me at m.sivak@northeastern.edu.
