"CAKE DENIM is a fit-focused, sustainable denim brand that designs and manufactures convertible luxury clothing for the modern women. They re-design classic pieces, such as skinny jeans and denim jackets, to enhance the fit and style for customers to make traveling and daily clothing decisions less overwhelming and more of a celebration. Founded in 2017 by sisters Darrel and Dominique, CAKE DENIM is a movement on a mission for affordable, eco-conscious, and functional fashion that celebrates a woman’s lifestyle and body.

As Northeastern University CS students, Darrel and Dominique use their expertise to improve manufacturing processes, create innovative designs and enhance the customer experience without compromising on their sustainability efforts. The brand stays true to its mission by combining various sustainable fabrics, providing upcycling opportunities, and partnering with a local recycling initiative" - (Darrel Schreiner)

Extra Credit with Professor Mark Sivak! 📝

"Here I share something design or tech related from the week for those looking for just a little extra credit."

I hope everyone had a refreshing Spring Break!

As the days get longer and the weather hopefully gets better it makes me want to get back in the outdoors. So this week I wanted to share a favorite company of mine, Oru. They make kayaks inspired by origami and have had four successful crowdfunding campaigns.
Designing a kayak that can fold up into something the size of a suitcase is no easy task and making that stylish is even harder. I really love the idea that someone can pack a kayak on a train or under their bed in their apartment. They have a new design releasing soon on Kickstarter, check them out and be sure to soak up the sunshine when you can!
Thoughts and feedback about the extra credit this week or want to submit one for next week? Email Professor Sivak at m.sivak@northeastern.edu.
